Attorney Hüseyin Mutlu has announced the launch of legal action against the price manipulation and monopolization in the olive oil sector, specifically targeting unfair practices in the Karaman Göksu Basin and Mut olive production areas. Mutlu shared his intentions on social media, highlighting that olive prices have been artificially reduced by cartels on the same day. He stated that a formal application has been submitted to the Turkish Competition Authority under Articles 4 and 6 of the Competition Protection Act (Law No. 4054).
In his statement, Mutlu emphasized the significant price discrepancies in the Aegean region, where similar quality olives are priced at two to three times higher than in Karaman. He pointed out that the lack of a strong cooperative structure in the area has allowed monopolizing firms to exploit local producers. “With these price drops, producers are suffering losses. We are committed to fighting for the rights of olive producers and ensuring fairness in the industry,” Mutlu affirmed.
